Who We Are

CrossFit Spotsy opened April 2008. Owned and operated by Lisa and Kerry Quinn. All coaches hold CrossFit Level I ANSI accredited certificates.

Lisa’s background in the fitness industry began in 1989 as an AFAA group exercise instructor and examiner, ACE P.T., ACE Lifestyle & Weight Management Gold certified. She has training at military bases, private and franchise gyms around the world. She started doing CrossFit the summer of 2007 after her two sons, both Active Duty Marines, shared with her the Physical Training their units were doing. After watching video of a CrossFit WOD, Nasty Girls, she began doing CrossFit WODs at a local gym. Unable to continue the CrossFit movements due to the gym’s rules, she began doing CrossFit in her garage with friends. Sept 2007 she attended CrossFit Level I weekend seminar presented by Coach Glassman at MCCS Quantico. She then began coaching under mentor Coach Major Andrew Thompson at CFQuantico.

After being encouraged by CrossFit Cert Staff Pat Sherwood at Level II Certification class Fall of 2007 to open her own CrossFit Box, she applied for affiliation and officially opened CrossFit Spotsy April 2008.

Lisa’s vision for CrossFit Spotsy is to be a known as an educational provider of CrossFit methodologies and philosophies in the greater Spotsylvania region through seminars, lectures, in-house training for local businesses, law enforcement, military units, schools, sports teams, and individuals.

Coaches

Lisa Quinn CrossFit Level II Certificate

Lisa has worked in the fitness industry for over 20 years, coaching athletes of all ages and fitness levels at various venues, from Gold’s Gym to military bases around the world.

Lisa was first exposed to CrossFit by her two sons, both active duty Marines. Upon finding herself out of breath from her first CrossFit warm-up, Lisa began to realize an entirely new point of view regarding health and fitness. Though she was a competitive tri-athlete at the time, she realized that her overall conditioning was incomplete. She immediately embarked on the adventure of CrossFit, both as an athlete, and as the owner of CrossFit Spotsy.

She nullifies all excuses and expects a “give-it-your-all” attitude from every athlete in order to assist them in reaching their human performance potential. She encourages every athlete to commit to the process, give their all each workout, and accept the results from each WOD “it is what it is” then learn from those results w/o allowing excuses.

Lisa is married to fellow coach, COO of CrossFit Spotsy, Kerry. All their children CrossFit, Tyler, Xavier, Tiana- CrossFit Spotsy coach and her husban Wes.

Kerry Quinn

As a career Marine for over 20 years (now retired) the staple for working out was to RUN, RUN some more, then do some pull-ups and sit-ups as icing on the cake. Kerry have competed in hundreds of road races at distances of 5k to the Marathon and he truly enjoys running. Having learned of CrossFit from his sons, in the Fall of 2007 his wife Lisa attended a CrossFit Level I certification weekend and began to CrossFit at the gym or at times in our garage. One day Kerry decided to “try” a CrossFit workout and was smoked by his wife Lisa. He began to cherry-pick the workouts for about a year mixing in a lot more running at first, but recently just the CrossFit WOD is a great enough challenge. Lisa opened CrossFit Spotsy in Spring of 2008 and Kerry has been her “Not-so-Silent” partner through the adventure.

Tiffany Moyer

Tiffany has always been an athlete, playing softball, basketball, and volleyball in high school. After she graduated she really missed being a part of a team, and she missed the physical challenges of playing sports. She became a member of a local gym to stay in shape, but she always felt as if her workout was never challenging enough. Once she got married she began to train with her husband Adam (a United States Marine). Knowing she would love the workouts and the intensity, he recommended that she join a Crossfit gym. In March of 2010 she joined CrossfitSpotsy and has never felt like she was cheated out of a workout since! Tiffany instantly knew she wanted to become a Crossfit coach. “The WOD’s were great, but finally there was a gym that was more than just weights and treadmills. Crossfit is about overall health, and the community is so supportive. Who wouldn’t want to be a part of something so amazing?!” Tiffany has experience coaching, as she was a junior high basketball and volleyball coach. She really enjoyed working with her athletes and missed helping others better themselves. She became a Crossfit coach to help athletes achieve their goals, and to learn as much as she can from her athletes so she can better herself in the process.

Tiffany achieved her level 1 certificate in August of 2010 and shortly after found out she was pregnant with her first baby. She continued to Crossfit throughout her entire pregnancy, and had her beautiful baby boy Logan on April 1st. .
